New York City!
Last night, Mikaela and I arrived at La Guardia, confused our taxi driver, and managed to find our way to Kate’s apartment in Queens, New York. It was a mellow first night in the city, Kate’s roommate, Marcos, joined us for a couple drinks at the local Irish pub, Saints and Sinners, which is just down the street from their pad. I was pretty excited that they had Magners, yum! Today we woke up to Mikaela’s super chipper “wakey wakey, friends” at which point Kate groaned, rolled over, and feigned sleep for a couple more minutes. I was more on Kate’s side this morning, no wakey wakey (eggs, or bakey) for me. We leisurely got ready and headed out to the 61st and Woodside station to ride the metro into Manhattan. After following Kate around the stations, letting her do all the navigating for us, we managed to find a Staples, set of the alarm trying to poach the internet, and evade getting kicked out all before breakfast. It was a close call for a little bit, I wasn’t sure if Staples was going to let us out of there with copies of our Bolt bus tickets to Boston, but we definitely won the battle.
Kate took us to this fabulous Moroccan restaurant,
Cafe Mogador, for some eggs, super spicy sauce, potatoes and cappucinos. It was fantastic. Although Mikaela did underestimate the kick of the red sauce. It had her gasping for water approximately five seconds post tasting. O us little Colorado country bumpkins, can’t really handle the spice! After checking out Times Square and walking down to 34th St., Mikaela and I jumped on the Bolt Bus to take our adventure up to Boston for the night! So far this bus is pretty sweet, it has wifi, which is more than Staples had to offer us this morning!
